ADDITION  |  REMODEL
San Jose  |  Montemar

Gabled additions add space and interest to what initially was a 1960's ranch style house. Originally, the roofline above the entrance was beneath one side of a vaulted ceiling. Adding a gable creates a nice sense of place when entering the home. The fireplace was moved to the shorter wall creating a nice symmetry and allows for an unobstructed view of the yard and charming neighborhood. In the kitchen, gracious spacing between the counter and island makes it easy for two (or more!) people to work. The breakfast bar adds seating for five in the heart of the kitchen. Adding onto the home allowed a long, dark upstairs hallway to be transformed into a cozy reading area at the top of the stairs, added storage and a second upstairs bathroom. The outdoor kitchen with a built-in barbecue, brickwork, stainless steel cabinetry, a dining table, a lounge area and a firepit extend the home’s cooking and entertaining space outdoors.
